10 BEST WEDDING VENUES IN TOWNSVILLE

Are you recently engaged or currently planning your wedding in Townsville? Then this blog post is for you! Getting married is such a momentous occasion in your life and what better way to celebrate with your close family and friends than at one of the beautiful wedding venues in Townsville. After recently planning my own wedding, I found out first-hand wedding planning can be a daunting process. Finding the right wedding venue was by far the hardest part. I hope my recommendations help you choose your perfect location.

There are many factors to think about when choosing your wedding venue in Townsville.

  1. Location

  2. Indoor or outdoor space

  3. Capacity

  4. Inclusions

  5. Accessibility to accommodation

  6. Price

In no particular order here are my recommendations for the best wedding venues in Townsville:

The Ville Townsville

Imagine saying your vows on the waterfront with breathtaking views of Magnetic Island! The stunning location, excellent amenities and capacity to seat grand weddings of up to 600 people are a huge plus. The Ville wedding packages offer an all-in-one experience with the ability to have your ceremony, reception and accommodation in the one venue for you and your guests. Trust me, this is game changing when it comes to organising your wedding. Pricing is on the higher side for Townsville, however the packages they provide are unbelievably good. For brides who want a luxurious yet convenient wedding venue for their guests, the Ville would be perfect.

Townsville Surf Life Saving Club

What I love about this wedding venue is the profits go towards supporting the Townsville Picnic Bay Surf Lifesaving Club. It’s located at the Burke Street Headland on the Strand and boasts incredible panoramic views of Magnetic Island. With the ceremony on the Headland and the reception at the Surf Lifesaving Club this offers a great, stress free combination. The club offers indoor and outdoor seating arrangements and can seat 100 people comfortably. There is no accommodation attached to this wedding venue however the Strand has a number of award-winning options within walking distance from the club.

Jam Corner Townsville

Conveniently located on Palmer street, Jam Corner has breath-taking views of the inner city and river. You can book the entire indoor venue which includes the downstairs restaurant and first floor function room which can hold up to 100 people depending on whether you choose a cocktail style or the sit-down dinner option. There is no accommodation attached to this venue however Palmer street has some of the best accommodation options within walking distance of Jam Corner. This is the perfect venue for an intimate, sophisticated wedding.

Townsville Yacht Club

This stunning indoor wedding venue offers a stylish attire with views of Townsville’s Marina and Ross Creek. The Townsville Yacht Club is in a prime location, being close to the Townsville Casino, Flinders Street and Palmer Street. Along with a wedding coordinator, it offers customisable packages with many additions to add if desired. You can invite 60-80 people depending on whether you choose a cocktail style or the sit-down dinner option. They provide discounted accommodation for guests through the Quest on Palmer Street. The price per person is on the higher side, however the inclusions and package value are excellent.

Elite Barn – NQ Elite Rodeo Townsville Weddings

If you are looking for a unique wedding venue in Townsville, then you have to consider the Elite Barn Weddings. This rustic wedding venue Townsville offers is located in Alice River, a 40-minute drive from Townsville’s CBD. With their beautiful open-air chapel for your ceremony and rustic styled barn for the reception, this is perfect for relaxed, boho styled weddings. If you are a wedding photographer in Townsville, this wedding venue is a dream, and without doubt you will get some stunning images for your beautiful couple.

Hotel Grand Chancellor Townsville

Another top location for your wedding venue in Townsville is the Hotel Grand Chancellor. Conveniently located on Flinders Street, it boasts the ability to have your ceremony and reception under the one roof for up to 180 guests. Whether you choose the intimate rooftop or the Pandora function room, you will not be disappointed. This wedding venue is value for money, with their platinum package coming in at $100 per head for an all-inclusive food and venue hire package.

Rydges Townsville

Two reasons why you should consider Rydges Townsville for your wedding reception is their romantic Grand Ballroom, which can cater for up to 300 people, and their menu options. If you are anything like me, a three course, alternate drop, seated dinner does not particularly interest me. Rydges offers canapes, buffet styled dinners, a wedding roast option, and even a live and loud BBQ station. The options available on this menu will easily please any bride and groom. Accommodation can also be provided through Rydges Townsville, which conveniently allows you and your guests to enjoy your night hassle free.

Mercure Hotel Townsville

If you are wanting a wedding venue that offers diversity for the ceremony and reception locations, you should consider the Mercure Hotel. Located in Currajong, it offers indoor and outdoor reception locations which can be tailored to suit small intimate weddings or large lavish banquets. The price point is in the middle range, which is perfect if you are budget conscious.

The Townsville Turf Club

The Townsville Turf Club is a hidden gem. Two perks for choosing this as your wedding venue is the option of indoor and outdoor reception locations, and the serenity of overlooking the beautiful heritage listed Cluden Park Racecourse. If you are looking for a location that offers stunning wedding photography in Townsville, this is the one. Even though this venue does not offer accommodation options, there are some excellent options within a five-minute drive.

The Banquet Centre at the Townsville Brewery

If you are wanting a sophisticated indoor wedding venue which offers a blank canvas to style and decorate, the Banquet Centre located above the Townsville Brewery would be a superb option. With a venue that can comfortably seat 100 people and conveniently located on Flinders Street, you and your guests will not be disappointed. Whether you choose a cocktail, buffet or the three course meal option, the prices are very reasonable and start at $50 per person. The Grand Hotel and Apartments on Flinders Street, located metres away, offer deluxe and discounted accommodation options to weddings held at the Banquet Centre.

Conclusion

With over 300 days of sunshine per year, Townsville is one of the best places in North Queensland to get married. From intimate elopements to large lavish banquets, the wedding venues in Townsville will not disappoint. If you have had your wedding or are planning your wedding in Townsville, comment below.
